There is a 200x on craigslist for $300 its about 2 hours from me. Its been sitting for 2 years and he says the timing is off a little and the kicker doesn't catch alot.

Should I go for it or just let it pass?

Well 83-85' parts are cheap and interchange...It's a soild start to a resto project. People have made solid performance packages and you have the header so...What is it for? It won't be a soild rider IMO until you do bearings $100(entire bike) $65 brakes, $105 chain and sprocket, air filter $20....lube the cables, clean the carb....If the shocks need work figure $65 a leg up front....rear is non-service style...$35-100 ebay take your chances/$800 custom

Doesn't look bad to me for $300.

timing is off.. either its just set wrong (witch means there could be some bent valves or damages pistons. or the cam chain is streched/worn out. and thats an easy fix.

He may be referring to ignition timing.

im betting on alot more than timing, look at that mess of silicone on the head and rocker box.

i only see it on the rocker cover. and many high heat gasket goo is red. nothing wrong with it if they did a good job on making it.

You obviously know nothing about the 1st gen 200x. A blob of silicone on the rocker box plugs the oil passages to the cam and destroys the topend. Eitherway its cheap, buy and tear it apart, prove me wrong.

Looks like they did not do a good job making it there should be such a small amount there that it would not be that visible ... good thing it didn't start because the oil passages are surely plugged!!
If you want it go buy it ... I would probabally part it out then find another and do the same then take the profit and buy a nice one my .02

I got it, Carb needs to be cleaned it wont idle or run smoothly but, it runs and moves no white smoke :), and both brakes work. The kicker is pretty much dead, everyonce in a while you might get 1 good kick out of it. It looks better in person then in the pictures. The front and rear shocks work perfect also.

And I need motor mount bolts, its only got 1 holding it in.

wouldn't be a bad idea to pull that rocker cover off and make sure none of that sealer got to your oil passages

x2. I wouldn't run it anymore until you pull off that rocker cover. You can easily ruin that head if the oil passages are clogged.

Is there a gasket that goes there? I looked on a parts diagram and didn't see one?

If you could link me to one that would be awesome.

It should have everything you need for the topend

there is no gasket that goes there...the idiot just used way too much.

Take that top off...put a small amount of sealer on the machined surfaces, then wipe the majority of it off...reinstall head, good to go.

Ah kind of in the ghetto eh? lol. 11th gets a little sketchy depending on how far north or south you go. Right of 20 isn't too bad.

Here's one for ya daniel_250r - seller told me in email he'd take $800 (Canadian) for it:

Just a dab of gasket sealer. You put it on really thin and put the cover on. The two pieces are machined nice and flat so it's not hard to make a tight seal.
