1983 200es question

whats up guys i have an 83 200es that is breaking up big time and is also very hard to start now i have a feeling its the stator because one of the screws got loose in there and damaged one of the windingsso my question is can a stator cause this? also is the stator from an 84 200es the same? thanks guys!

if it did then hat's your answer, damaging the widings means it's toaste and must be replaced. you can eitehr get a ricky stator upgrade or stocker from ebay.
