Ok so new problem... grrrrr, idles nice for about 5 mins. then will shut off unless your giving it gas. thats fine i like how it does that. but if i ride it for say a half hour and i let it stall. it wont start again for at least a few hours of sitting. even if i pull the plug clear the cylinder and clean the plug up. i dont know what it might be. it will run till its out of gas if im actually riding it. it will only do this if i let it die on its own. otherwise i have had it out for 3 hours without any issues other then that. ran good for the 3 hours. got home. it stalled on its own a min or 2 after pulling into my garage. my buddy came across the street and asked me to fire it up. no dice would not even give me a put put. let it sit for a few hours. fired up first pull.

when it does this, do you lose spark or fuel. that is critical in determining the issue.

update* it was the plug, i was recomended to use DR8ES-L NGK plugs for my 83 ytm 225. but it gets mega hot. and wont spark unless i push start it when it gets hot. i changed the plug after running it for 10 mins. let it die. would not start from the pull cord anymore. got 1 of my friends to push me down the street. and i popped it into gear it fired up. only thing i can think of is the plug is getting to hot. and wont fire unless it gets higher current. like turning the bike over quicker. simular to when a stator is slowly going.. any ideas? i know its the plug now.. or something related to the plug. maybe a wrong coil? i removed the gas tank. and the ignition coil wire if permanantly connected to the coil. so i cant replace the wire. all the coils i can find online all have a removeable cable.. maybe its wrong?

My 85 BW200 coil and wire were one piece. Not directly relavent but a point of reference.

I had a problem with a 200m many years ago. It would run great, but after about 30 minutes if you killed it. it would not start for a few hours. I was still getting spark but it was weak. i tried everything to figure out what it was. But couldnt find the solution. A few weeks later i was driving it and the stator flew apart. Kinda disenegrated if you will. I bought another one and put it on. Problem solved, but it took that for me to find the issue.

i thought stator too, but if i switch plugs. 30 seconds after it dies and pull it. first pull it will fire.. so its gota be the plug right?

the only thing i can think of. is something is making my plug to hot. and it stops working unless its running on its own and making more power. or my ignition coil is the wrong one. and my plug is not right for it.

When you switch plugs it is better correct? Does it stay better or the problem reoccur with the new plug?

Does it completly loose spark or does it just become weak?

What color is the plug when you take it out?

time to grab a meter, pull out the manual and start diagnosing the electrical componets one by one.

electrical issues can be troublesome and we could make you jump around from componet to componet all day, but in the long run this will be the quickest route.

I wonder if his coil is getting hot and dieing...?? Have you swapped out coils yet?

well i was thinking that too.. but if that were the case i would not be able to switch plugs right after and have it run great? till it dies again?
