View Full Version : How many of us run our trikes on trails?

I've only been around the forum here for a few months, but I have noticed that a lot of members are more into flat track racing rather than trail riding. How many of us are there that do mostly trail riding? I wish I had a flat track to run my Trimoto 175 on, but unfortunately all I have available are trails. Just curious to see some more trikes on the trail!

I would say the vast majority of people here ride trails or dunes. It might seem like there's a lot of people racing but in comparison to the entire community, the racers are a small portion of the trike riders out there. Organized trike racing just isn't an option for most of us (due to lack of a venue to race at).

Anyway, I ride mostly sand dunes but love desert and trail riding also. Here's a video clip of the closest thing I've done to trail riding in a while. It's a weird place. Kind of a mix between trails and dunes but with tiny volcanic rock instead of sand.

I really like trail riding! Took me a bit to get used to riding the 250r on trails, but I really like it now. Racing looks fun, but I really enjoy getting to see new stuff and the isolation in trail riding.

Nice vid! I saw that you mounted your camera to the headlight, but have you came up with a different camera mount? I've been wanting to mount one to mine and make a video of my trails and creek, but don't have any good ideas.

I bet it's fun riding in the sand out west. All we have in IL are woods and cornfields!

No racing here.....for me it's all about enjoying the ride. Here in NE Arkansas i have hundreds of miles of gravel roads and field roads to ride on. Ususally the field roads along the rice fields will have some nice mudholes to split. My pop has about 70 acres of some of the stickiest gumbo mud you ever saw...but the 200e has yet to get stuck in it....:Bounce Not far away is Crowley's Ridge, a set of hills that split the flatlands....fun up there too, a lot more gravel roads and gravel pits...and some very nice scenery also.

They make a handlebar mount for it that I'm planning to buy soon and it comes with several mounts for different purposes. Most of the vids I shot that day were taken with it mounted on my helmet (comes out much better). I was even leaving the camera on the ground and doing donuts around it. That headlight vid I posted was just an experiment. I haven't posted any others yet because they need to be edited to fit youtube but I've been working a lot of hours so I just haven't had time to figure out why the editor I'm using is goofing up my footage.

Roughly 8 miles to civilization through the woods in every direction. Couldn't begin to tell you the land area.

Woods with canals and swamps....

Mostly trails, but I have gotten word that I might be able to set up an ATV class at the local dirt track speedway. :naughty: I just have to have 3+ racers who would be there consistently. If this goes through, I would build up another 250r dedicated to dirt track.

All trails and open fields for us. We have 16 acres of woods with a creek running through our backyard.

I went to the local trail for the first time this week. But we have 500 acres of fields and woods on the farm.

I mostly enjoy trails, but I do also enjoy riding in open areas. Knik River Valley is gravel and silt, Kachemak Bay has mud flats and boulders, or just the backyard full of snow.

My definition of a fun trail may be different than many others; I enjoy the challenge of getting to some remote places!

It sounds like you are near where i grew up. I grew up in S.E. Missouri, some of the best riding i've seen.

Mostly trails and dirt roads. My buddys dad has a spot in upstate Pennsylvania that has plenty of dirt road and local land owners willing to share their farm lands. Course I also have the local spot which is only trails. Nice riding.

Some of you may have seen this already but here is a video of a trail ride around some of the farm and the pond. Awesome riding out there, very relaxing.

mostly trails and the tracks for me here in NE PA...I live right near the railroad tracks and you can ride them for miles. Also we have what was the old trolley tracks that go for about 10-15 miles and go from town to town. No tracks anymore so its about a car width wide and are all cinders and smooth so you can hammer everywhere which is fun.

I ride trails. I believe as it is stated earlier mass majority of the members ride trails. I don't race. speed is not a big issue with me. At 38 I have seen alot of speed earlier in my life and enjoy the slower trails pace...lol

We don't have anyplace to race, that I know of. We ride trails around rivers and make the 2 hour drive to the Little Sahara a few times a year. ( Not when it's hot). Winter time (snow & ice), we play anywhere we can, some legal, some not.

we ride trails at least once a week, usually twice though. Only good places to ride around here are trails, without driving to the dunes. Planning on a dune trip this fall though for sure. Especially since i have a 250r now!!

There is a huge pit, and miles of trails all around me. I got the 200S so that I didnt have to lug my guns so far to the 500 yard range, and to get to my coyote spots easier with bait.

I ride trails with my 3 wheeler. Tight trails, power lines, Hatfield McCoy, Busco Beach, drag racing, what ever it takes to have fun!

I guess I was wrong about the majority of us doing track racing only! It's good to see a lot of trikes still running the trails. I figured out a decent mount for my camera today and shot some video, but the front rack I had it mounted to was vibrating pretty badly and ruins the quality of the video. I'm planning on posting a vid sometime soon on here to see what you all think, once I get a better mount set up.

Another trail rider here! And also another vote for the Hero GoPro wide helmetcam. Decent quality video, and very tough and durable - not to mention waterproof for those muddy days ;)

Here's some helmetcam footage from my favorite trail system in the area, the Ganaraska Forest:
