I just purchased a Yamaha 200E for $50 from a guy down my street. It stopped running last year and he didn't want to store it. It has no scratches, dents or tears in the seat. The body is pretty much like new except for some sun fading on the front fender. I just got her idling but I'm having a hard time getting it to run right and thought I might get some help from the experts. She idles good but seems to be running at 2000 rpms in every gear. She has no giddy up to her. Runs no faster than 10-15 mph in 5th gear. Just seems really really bogged down. Not sure what I change on the carb to make it run better. I clean the needle/seat and everything seems to be OK. I'm new to this and this is basically the first small engine I've ever attempted to fix. I'm not even sure what year my three wheeler is which would help greatly. I've found a manual for a 200k but can't find it for the 200E and not sure if it's a 83, 84 or 85. Any help determining this would be greatly appreciated. I'd also like to know if I need to adjust the timing or what the carb settings are. I'm really looking forward to getting this run right and chatting with the fine folks on this site. Sorry for the long first post...Hopefully these picks will load:

Welcome. Post the VIN, we'll figure out the year.

Here's a link to help locate it, if needed.

That's what I thought but I've known the guy for awhile and he knew I liked it. Great guy! He came up to me on the lake one day and asked if I wanted it and I said here ya go...:w00t: Told him if I ever get it running he can use it whenever he wants.

Thanks a lot! If anyone has any info on my 1983 YTM200EK Yamahauler that would be great. Even history of the YTM200EK in general, I'd be very interested. Looking for a service manual. I will be searching this site and the Internet. I'd also be able to provide any answers to anyone with a question about the machine, general info as I'm just starting into this.

Thanks, what a great site!

Thanks, I also found this site which is the carb that I have. The manual for the 200k I mentioned earlier has a different one in it, not sure why.

Again, any and all info relating to the 200EK is great.

It's all starting to make sense now. Can't wait to get her tuned up, I hope!

You got a heck of a deal on that bike.

Have you tried turning the choke on and off, mine is on my handlebars to the left of the key and neutral light as you're sitting on it. Mine was stuck when I first got it and had a similar bogging issue. Mine also idles much higher when the choke is on. I know that's pretty basic, but I'm just throwing it out there since you said it's your first small engine.
