1985 200x ATC that is.....I dunno I grew up riding these and haven't had one in years and found this for $300. It needs a little work but I wanted something to work on so it's perfect. I'll be posting photos as I go and keep you updated (if you're interested).

So far I know it needs (so if you have any of this please contact me!)

Pulse Generator Cover
Valve Job
Bolts to hold the gas tank down
Bolts to hold the pegs down
Bolt to connect break leaver to break arm (by the kick start)
Muffler

Also mine has a twist throttle and not the thumb throttle is that standard? All the other ATC's I have ridden had thumb throttle?

No, the twist throttle is aftermarket. All the 200x's from the factory had a thimb throttle stock.

Damn I wish it still had the thumb throttle, is that something that would be an easy replacement? I don't like twist throttle as much.

the 1985 200x had a blue seat and blue in the tank decals ....... seat isn't honda so odviously that has been changed and maybe the tank was also changed .... the twist is easy to change out ... just get new grips and find a thumb on e-gay ...

Yea it looks to be kind of a mashup of trikes so we'll see. I just won a fresh head with a fresh valve job on it! The old owner said it needed a valve job so I am on my way. I am looking at getting a new carb on eBay as well...

And yes I am on BF.C haha, I posted a thread about this in OT :beer

I thought I saw it somewhere, small world I guess! :D

I think I have a pulse cover and the footpeg bolts, and if you can get a pic of what brake bolt you mentioned Ill see what I can come up with there too.

Sweet thanks man! Let me know what you want for it all and I'll paypal you!

It basically is a pin that connects the brake pedal (on the right side) to the brake mechanism. So when you hit down to hit the brakes it pulls the brakes.

Well last night I got the motor out and the new head should be one it's way along with a ton of other parts. It has a twist throttle but I prefer thumb throttle so I need to order one of those.

sorry pic is blurry I didnt set my camera to closeup. anyways you can see the clip still with the 2 little bolts that hold it on. it goes on the notch on the gear shaft there. youll see what i mean when ya get one. keeps sprocket from coming off obviously.

I just won a couple of auctions and ordered some parts from my local Honda Dealership!

On the way:
- Head with fresh valves and fresh valve job
- Thumb Throttle
- Head Gasket Kit
- Rubber Gromet Lot
- Fuel Tank Mount Bolts
- Pulse Generator Cover
- Brake link bolt
- "Brand new" carburetor

Big thanks to Nick_R_23 for hooking me up with some parts!

A couple of things I would like to do while I am waiting for parts that I'd like some advice on:

- I want to strip down and re-paint the fuel tank so what grit sandpaper do you guys recommend? Or anything special I should do?
- The front shocks feel as if they have no fluid in them so my question is can I refill them without taking them off the bike or do I have to completely take them off to refill them?
- Also, where the swing arm attaches to the frame it looks like there is a bigger gap on the left side of the bike, wha'ts the best way to get that straight and aligned?
- I tried using Back to Black on the front fender and it seemed to brighten the plastic up a lot but is there something better or a way to re-dye the plastic?

Things I still need that you guys might have for sale:

- 200x exhaust (stock or aftermarket) I just don't want to spend a fortune on an exhaust
- Chain sprocket cover (the one on the motor)

Put the new head on but have my doubts on this motor...keep your fingers crossed

After lots of problems/roadblocks it runs and drives now! I am just waiting for the exhaust I just ordered, the new thumb throttle cable cause I hate twist throttle and need to adjust the clutch cable as it kinda creeps when you pull it in after riding while holding the clutch.

Well I am not sure if all of you caught it but the motor had a little implosion a couple fo weeks ago.....The cam chain tensioner and cam chain snapped resulting in the cam sprocket bolts going through the pulse generator base plate! I can't thank Eric350x enough as he shipped me out a ton of parts I needed for just the cost of shipping! Seriously thanks man. I got her all back together today and she wouldn't start....no matter how much I fiddled with the timing, etc....I put on a couple of my original parts and it fired up! It is midnight here though so I can't exactly run it and see how it runs. I have to adjust the exhaust, adjust the cam chain tension and put the CDI cover back on tomorrow. I plan on riding Sunday so wish me luck! I'll update this thread with some pics in the next couple of days, who knows I might be able to get some video of the ride on Sunday!

So the best way to adjust the cam chain tensioner is to start it and let it idle then loosen the adjusting screw?

Yeah that's how you adjust it. Very simple. You should notice an immediate difference in the sound of the engine.

Ok cause I pushed the tensioner arm all the way down when I put the motor back together so next time I start it I'll let it idle and just loosen it and see how it sounds.
