I currently have an 85' 250R that I'm interested in building, or at least, trying to build. I have a question about the rear axle. Will an '86 Durablue axle fit into an '85? The swingarm is from an '85. Any info or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

yes the axle will fit, but you may have to play around with the sprockets and sprocket hub

I've got a quick axle question myself!

While working on a new project I went to remove the hubs as to clean and regrease the axle spline - I popped out the cotter pin on one side just fine, removed hub nut easily. Moved over to next side - no cotter pin - instead it looks like there is some sort of 'insert' threaded into the axle itself and that is holding the hub nut in tight INSTEAD of a cotter pin. I have never seen this before and have not been able to remove this 'insert' as of yet.

It takes a very large square head driver.

Weird?

Back in the day we used to put "85" axels in the "86"s cause they were solid..not hollow... should work the other way around ..:naughty:

dude your question was answered over at .org.. you can run a 86 axle in an 85 carrier,,,, you can't run 86 sprockets on an 85 axle,,, you would have to drill out the and countersink the holes to run an 85 sprocket on an 86,,,
