HI, me and my dad have my 1984 250r here with us and we got a question about the brake master cylinder on the front. Please if you don't have a 83-84 250r don't answer cause i need to know the right answer from someone who has one.
Heres my question: Does the master cylinder go in 1/2 inch before it tightens up? Or should it only move a couple of millimeters. If someone can please help me that would be great. Thank You , Steve

If the brakes work, run it.

The brakes are not great, we need someone to tell us if there master cylinder piston is tight and only moves a couple of MM. Theres definetly no air in the system. We just need to talk with someone who has a 250r.

Our brakes are all old and most of them could need rebuilding. Most of them feel pretty spongy, it's not model specific and most of the systems are very similar and or near identical.
But, like Jeff said, if they work don't sweat it.....
Those old rubber hoses don't help either because they allow the pressure to blow out instead of towards the caliper piston.

Good point! A stainless hose may take away the "sponge" factor.

Me and my dad rock stainless lines. Me and my dad rock brakes rebuilt with OEM parts. But me and my dad have a Tri-Z. Good luck to you and your dad.

^ Jeffmeister, you and your dad have to remind me of the place to get the stainless hoses we spoke about.
I need 2 for the 3 fiddyX and 2 for the 200X. Shoot me an email please there bud, just don't come over
Stainless Steel braided hoses DEFINITELY help the brake lever/pedal feel SOLID!! A great update for anyone!!

well the master on my 84R went bad and i put a spare one on from my tri z and i can pull it in about an inch and it will lock up the front tire if you grip it hard enough so you are fine if it is still stopping just fine
