I know it's 2" O.D. and I can only assume that I can get 1.750 x .065 wall tubing inside there??

Can anyone confirm this? I just spent 30 minutes searching at Glamis about this and only got the OD of the stock stuff which I already knew....

Anyone found a source for short lengths of cold rolled/black iron/4130 tubing??

THANK YOU :beer

DC, Mcmaster Carr should carry it in 6ft lengths. DOM should be cheap. 4130 will be a lot more money.

Thanks guys......

McMaster just doesn't seem to have allot of plain steel. They have tons of tool steel or maybe it's just this catalog?? I'll have to check online......

I couldn't even find 5/32" plain bars for my headlight guards, they only had A1,01 tool steel etc etc etc.

I don't even have a catalog, I always look online. I know they've got mild and 4130 because I've bought quite a little of both from them.

I need to do one also, so I asked a member on Glamis and this is the response,

the 4130 was 1.75x.065 and the steel was 2.00x.120 i had to freeze the 4130 to get it to go in to the steel. hope this helps you out.

There's a machine shop next door to my dads hobby shop. I just used a piece of leftover tubing from their scrap pile. Here are a few pictures. I thought I had posted them on my build thread.:wondering

If you need to buy a long piece and have extra I will buy some from you, I have a frame to do at some point.

You can use the headstock and frame tube from an early model 70. It slides right in the late model nicely. Only one weld and a few spots that way.
