Howdy,
Got my 81 250r running great. Im having a problem with shifting though. When I'm shifting from 1st to 2nd I sometimes wind up in neutral. Am I doing it wrong? Any tips for hitting second everytime?
Also, any idea how hard it is on a 2stroke to run in 5th WOT for long periods of time? Will I kill my motor really fast doing this?
Thanks,
Jason

Try shifting up a little harder, because I think you are shifting too lightly, and thats why it keeps hitting neutral. Holding a 2 stroke wide open for even a little while is never a good thing. They arent made for that, so make sure to back off the throttle once in a while if you are going wide open.
Dammit!

Depends on how much of a load is on the engine and how well it's jetted. Jetted correctly with a good load on the engine (like going up a long hill) you can hold them pinned with no problems.

Cool thanks guys. I'll try shifting a little harder. I'll also take it easy with the WOT on the flats. Guess I really need a 6th gear. Ill be getting an 86 250r soon.
One more question. My 81 pulls to the right a good bit. Both rear tires have the same PSI of pressure. Any idea why its pulling? Oh I lied..one more, you guys have problems with the headlight socket coming loose from the bulb? Mine keeps popping off.
Thanks,
Jason

As for running a 2 stroke wot for awhile it leads to engine seizure. The guys from the enduro club when on long stuff and they hold them wot, they hit the kill button for several seconds every mile and it seams to work for them.
