I have had a ad on Kijiji for a while looking to get a gas tank for my 200m. I had a guy call me today saying he had an '83 Honda 200. He said it started to smoke in the fall, and one hub is stripped, the fenders are good, chain and sprockets are good, and that the last time he had it running was in winter. He wants $400, but I think I could get it for $300. If I buy it, my plan would be to fix it up and sell it for about $500-$600. What does everyone think of this machine?

I'd offer him $200 if it looked decent and had decent compression. Good Luck!

He says it started smoking because the rings are wore, so I assume the compression is low. He also says that it would start up if he tried, so I don't think $300 is to bad if it'll start, and move.

i would do it, i have 3 complete bikes myself and plan on selling one when i get it running, 300$ for a running 3 wheeler in decent shape is damn good around here.

I forgot to ask the guy where he lives, so he might be to far away, but if he is close I'll probaly go for, despite my father trying to say I'd never make any profit on it.

BTW, 1984ATC200S, I just got a new helmet, so now I have one that is DOT approved, so me and you should get out for a ride.

anytime man i get laid off at the end of this week so i got lots of free time, and in a week or two my truck should be on the road so we could hit up new trails.

So let me get this straight- You're going to buy it for $300, put at least $100 or $200 on top of your own time and labor and sell it for $500 or $600? Ummm, yeah... makes sense to me....

that was what i was thinking fabiodriven. Thats why I would not pay more than $200 if its just to flip for cash. FWIW I paid $450 for a fantastic 83 200m. Only problem it has was a cracked left fender.

The most I'd spend for parts would be $100, and like 1984ATC200S said, $300 is a good price for something that runs around here. I bought my '85 200m, running with no smoke, but with fenders and seat all beat to hell for $400.

A 200S is about as sporty as it gets, i have never seen a 250R 350X or 200X in person sad but true and if you do find one people are wanting 1000$ for junk just because its a sport trike, just seems to be what the market is in New Brunswick.

I have seen a few 200x's and 250r's on Kijiji, but they are all at least $1000.

he can do what im doing. everyone is selling now and there getting cheaper and cheaper. when the market turns the value of them will go back up. esspecially here in canada. a running 185s with nothing wrong but TLC averages 900 bucks here. i bought mine for 200, and ive dumped 150 into it. 350 for a runner. and ill be able to flip it for around 900 bucks hopefully in the near future.

him saying hes only going to flip it for 500, well thats just what he thinks some 1 will pay for it. but he could get more then that. and to mohadib and fabiodriven, if you truly like trikes. you like working on them. learning more about them. just plain old messin with them. who cares about making a profit as long as he breaks even hes going to have a blast working on it.

That is mainly the reason I might buy it, to have fun working on it and give me something to do before school starts again, and I won't sell it unless I can at least break even.

another thing about having two trikes you have a spare, my BR is back up for when my 200S goes down, I'm a big parts hoarder and have enough parts now to build two or three more, that i may sell or keep for me and friends to beat on, also planning a suspended 200E sometime before school begins, so if the price is right go for it!

I not quite sure if I'll buy it yet or not, I have yet to see it, and if the guy is over an hour drive away, I'm not intrested.

BTW, 1984ATC200S, when we get out for a ride it would have to be a weekend, my dad has his truck at work on weekdays.

I was talking to the guy last night and he is in Chipman, about an hour away. He also said that he would need a couple days to make sure It'll run when I go to see it. I'll call him tomorow evening to see if he got it going, and if he did I'll go take a look at it Saturday if he is going to be around.
