Hi, I have 2 disc brakes on my bike. I just bought the bike recently. My main question is are the brakes supposed to stop the bike on a dime? My brakes are not stopping on a dime. I have done everything possible. the system has brand new parts. Things I notice is that my friend has a 1982 250r and he comes down massive hill climbs. However if i did that i would most likely kill myself cause of the brakes. I would ask my friend with 82 but he died of carbon monoxide poisoning. The only thing I have not done is use a vacuum pump on the brakes. I had a 660 raptor quad and it stopped so really fast. The piston on my caliper is not pressurized enough. Will the vacuum pressurize the system? It says its supposed to and it has a gauge on it that tells you how much pressure. I'm refering to the mityvac pump. Does it add more pressure then pumping the lever by your hand the old fashioned way. My other friend has a quad and the master cylinder piston is very tight at the beggining. However on my 250r the piston goes in half of inch. Something tells me the piston should not be going in 1/2 of inch. Sounds like air is being compressed somewhere.

250r brakes will stop on a dime and give you 9 cents change!!! you have air trapped in the system,,,, go to a hardware store get a 3 foot long piece of clear tubing 3/16 .. slip it over the bleed screw an put the other end in the res.. pump away till you get all the air out,,,,, you should have less than 1/8 inch of piston travel when done right,,,,
