That's definitely a finish line, the durablues had two lock nuts like the stock axle.

You'll for sure want special nuts if you add 5 inches .... uh, wait - that didn't sound right!

Just measure the thread pitch and diameter and have them made at a local machine shop. Should be a cake walk.

Hey all its been a long time since I have been on, (last log on 01-2009) here is my Bro's 85 with an extended axle next to my 86 with a stock axle. I have no clue as to the brand, and if I remember correctly we had the hub extenders on it too. We ended up taking the hub extenders off because we didn't want to bend the axle.

Welcome back. Nice green toys. Too bad your axel looks like a Dura Blue with 2 nuts. I want to put my longer axel on so bad. My +2 Franks swing arm brought the look of the bike to life. Now just need the axel.

Finishline axles came with 2 nuts according to my research. durables came with two and had on option for a single nut with a set screw. I have an old durablue for a Kawasaki mojave and it has one nut.

Anything new here? may not be getting rid of the tecate now. Id still like to mount this bad boy on er.

I'll take a stab at this, even though I no longer have a Tecate in front of me.....hope I understand what you're asking.

The threaded collar inside the large nut must be able to thread back and forth inside the nut. Otherwise, you can't turn the nut.....thereby moving the collar out an putting pressure on the circlip in the groove of the axle. Once you get the threaded collar moving inside the nut, run the collar back inside the nut toward the brake hub, put the circlip on the axle, then tighten the large nut(inside collar moving out toward the clip. Tighten to your liking.

Tecate250

But my collar seems to have no way of keeping it tight like a key way or lock bolt.

I'm gonna throw this out there. Maybe that collar/nut you have isn't for the axle you have? They are pretty old parts, maybe they just ended up laying around with the axle by accident. One other thought I had was that maybe that axle would work with the Honda style set up? The splines look too coarse but its hard to tell from a picture.

Tecate250
01-30-2010, 10:10 AM
Well it seems to fit just like honda harrys.

Lots of heat.

Tecate250
02-02-2010, 11:47 AM
Yeah! I was thinking of using my wood stove to heat it up and throw it in the snow.I was loooking at durablue.com and it seems they dont make one like it "anymore" No one else has pictures of tecate extended axels? If this was a honda topic it would be flooded.

I have 2 Dura Blue +6 axles for first get Tecate, and they utilize all oem hardware for simplicity. I've never seen anything so simple made into sometimng so complex. Why would any company do something like that? Dura Blues i've seen, owned, or friends have had over many years, (3 or 4 wheels) have always fit exactly like oem. But, other companies like G-force for example, have taken a simple Banshee-Tri-z axle and made it into something similar to yours. I bought one a while back from Rocky Mountain and hated the change, and promptly sent it back! I prefer simple, but effective.....

Tecate250
02-04-2010, 11:22 AM
Yeah I know the feeling Tecat-z. I dont know why they made there axels like that. Even the oem ones are weird. But it dosent look like Honda Harrys nut.
