I have a 1981 185..

She doesnt run so well..

It has no power in 3rd or 4th gear.. have to play with the throttle to get it running in those gears!
1-2 seem good!

Put a NEW carb on and still runs the same.

Bottom end??

If the 81 had points, it could be old points. Once the spring on the points wears out or gets weak it lets the points float at higher rpms and your trike won't run right.

Yep, if you're having to play with the throttle it sounds like the clutch...

That is a carb problem for sure - have you had it off the bike and abart and cleaned it? I'd start there.

When you are in first or second, the bike runs good all the way threw the throttle range (from idle to right before you have to change gears)?

I took off the air box and now she goes into 3rd and 4th.. but she bogs JUST A LIL BIT... still a lil rough! BUT A HECK OF ALOT BETTER THAN BEFORE!

and yes I cleaned the filter and box when I put the new carb on.. guess ill have to run it without the box.

where do I find how to adjust the clutch??

From the manual

Engine must be OFF

Loosen the locknut

Turn the adjusting screw one full turn clockwise.

Slowly turn the adjusting screw counterclockwise until resistance is felt.

Then turn the adjusting screw clockwise 1/4 turn and tighten the locknut.
