LOL just kidding!

Here us my story. I am new to the atv world. After 32 years of wishing I had something to ride......I grew up on 10 acres in the country and all the neighbors had atv's but Dad was more interested in farm tractors and push mowers.....I finally bought some rides!

I first bought a chinese off brand quad....I know, I know .....don't give me any crap! Actually it runs good......if you are into only going about 35 mph!

Then I was in FL and found a 1981 atc 185s for $400. I bought it and fell in live with 3 wheelers instantly! It ran awesome for six weeks. It had 3 new tires and a funky camo decor.......you restorers would hate it! But I was in love.

Then the motor siezed up and died. I had no clue how to fix it. Then I found an ad on CL for Muddogs Restorations in Columbiaville, MI . That's when I met Roger (sandpuppi101) and began making a lot of trips to his house.

New bearings, 200 engine, muffler, frame welding, brake adjustments, clutch, recoil , pull start, gas cap, seal and more......I have a rocket ship! I love it. I spent a fortune.....although he SHOULD have charged more ......but I am now a three wheeler addict and am hooked for life.

I also recently picked up a 1984 125m for $250 that is a lot of fun. It has some serious issues and is not worth alot of $ to fix up but we are having fun with it while it lasts......who knows....it may last forever, these hondas seems to!

So thanks sandpuppi for turning me into an addict! Thanks for answering the phone about once a day with my questions.

I have been devouring the techincal pages and threads on this website and I have learned a ton in just a few short months! Three wheeler people are cool dudes!

I hope to make trikefest next year and maybe sandpuppis rose city ride this august. I'll be the guy on the 185 that has morphed into a wierd hybrid of a 200 and has the funky camo scheme.......and I'll have a big fat grin on my face because I love this three wheeler stuff!

Welcome, you need to post some pics of your rides.

Here are some pics. The single pic of the 185 is before the work sandpuppi101 did was started. It now has a 200 engine and doesn't have that stupid handle.

I got it on ebay......just search 4 inch camo tape and it will come up. I know some of the trike "purists" don't like that sort of thing but I spend about 60 days every fall in the woods hunting and I don't want a bright red trike shining through the trees at other hunters. I don't care if the deer see it .......but the hunters are another story!

How's that big pull start handle working for you? I saw those at Tractor Supply.

The big pull start is not on there any longer. Sandpuppi101 put an orignal on there when he changed the engine to a 200. I put the big handle on because it had a tiny tiny one on there when I got it and it tore my hand up. The old engine started hard and that little handle was killing me. I like the big one but it was ugly and the standard one works fine now that the new engine starts first pull everytime.

One thing....roger (sandpuppi) can tell you that I have had the worst luck with chords and recoils. The one that came on there broke 2 days after I bought it. It was 30 years old and original. I was in FL and could not find one so I bought some rope at lowes and put it on. Of course I had never taken apart a pull assembly so that was a lesson in itself. The rope promptly broke!

I finally found an offbrand atv store that sold me one for $47.00! 2 days later I found a honda dealer and bought one for $3.95! I was pissed! I have had 4 ropes break on me and 2 recoils fall apart. I have also had the little housing plate break apart and the little wires break! Unbelieveable. We finally changed the entire pull assembly and now I am good to go! I have ordered a rebuild kit for the assembly.

So my first repair induction into 3 wheelers was this rope pull ordeal. I don;t know much about the mechanic side of engines yet (although I am learning and reading every day! ) but I can bust apart a pull assembly and change a chord in 5 minutes or less! LOL
