    Vealmonkeys 350X frame with gussets.....

    Got some welding done today for VM. Ran out of my Argon mix, hope to get more in the next couple days.

    Anyhow, here are some shots of the progress;

    It's an 86 frame but must be an early one because the left frame half wrap is not there. I have to chop off the mount and add one.

    I'll post some pics of that soon.....

    Um, Veal, thats some serious reinforcing right there. What exactly do you have in mind for it?
    This is my trike. There are many like it but this one is mine. My trike is my best friend, and it is my life. I must master it as I must master myself. My trike without me is useless. Without my trike, I am useless. I must ride my trike true. My trike and I know that what counts is not the amount of miles we ride, but the time we ride together. My trike is human in it's own ways, therefore I will learn it as my brother. I will learn it's weaknesses, it's strengths, it's parts, and it's soul.

    I use to just do a few gussets, which is fine to hold the flex back; I've doubled them along with adding to some of the OEM welds. Now that I've put on a linkage rear suspension to my own 350X, I've added allot more gusseting to any frame I work on. It really only adds a couple pounds but a whole lot more strength and less flex.

    It's allot of work from the fabrication to the paint removal to the welding as best as I can. Having a good 230V mig welder helps quite a bit!

    VM can comment on the powerplant he's installing if he wishes I've had his frame awhile and just wanted to show some progress, finally......

    Did somebody mention my name? LOL That's looking real nice DC. Well worth the wait. Looking Beefy. It's going to need it. The powerplant is staying honda, believe it or not, but it's going to be alot of mix and match. Thanks in total to SWIGIN for that. Well, I guess since this frame has popped up, may as well go public. I lucked into getting the pieces for the Ascott 500/350x build from Wayne/ SWIGIN. So, in the meantime I got this frame and another, which is getting redone for my regular 350x. Also thanks to Jasonatc250r for the other 350x frame and a nice 350x engine which is getting redone to to house the Ascott 500 head and bits and the stroked 350x crank. It took awhile to find some of the 350x internals, but thanks to Petesatc and another member who I can't recall right now, sorry, that they hooked me up with the internal parts that are discontinued from Honda. So the crank was heading off to be stroked with all the new Honda parts and just waiting for that to come back. I've accumulated a ton of honda seals, bearings and all kinds of other stuff for the rebuild as well. I keep looking for a genuine Honda lower 350x gasket set, but no luck. I think the cases still need to be bored for the much larger sleeve and not sure if the new sleeve is in the cylinder yet, but it's coming together. I have a durablue +2 swinger I was going to use on the other frame, but I think I will use the stock swinger on that and use the durablue on this frame, but it may need a longer swinger still. I've been called several things, mostly on the lines of insane, for wanting to put this engine in a trike, but, what the heck, right? LOL It should be nuts. But it will be the answer to a long time question of the Ascott 500/ 350x feasability. So, it's been on and off and kind of slow coming. I thank Wayne and Jason and Bruce and everyone else for their patience. It only took me 2 or 3 frames to find another good one after my first frame from Jason. And I've been patiently watching DC's build of the 450r/250r/350x trike. Sadly, moneys a little tight right now as I have just way too many projects going at once, as I had fantasies of 450r/250r parts and mods, but it's just not possible right now. So this frame will have to do for now. Once I get some other things done, who knows. So cross your fingers for me to get this all going and see where it ends up.

    You can reference this link for more info about the Ascott 500 Head mod. Don't think for a moment that this is an easy mod. It was very time consuming for Wayne to do all this. At one time this was thought to be a bolt on, but it's far from it. Thanks Wayne, and everyone else too for help making all this possible.

    LOL, Suzuki, right? I was given a 75 Suzuki 550GT about a week ago. Sat for 30+ years outside. I'm hoping to have it running in the next week. Rebuilt the carbs, petcock, cleaned the points/etc, unfroze the engine, fixed wiring. can't wait to hear it fire up.

    Kawisaki has an aircooled version, Suzuki was a water cooled

    I like the idea of the 500x setup for it. I bet it's a torque monster when it's done!.

    Honestly, most of it is a good mig welder with shielding gas, good prep of the 2 surfaces and some technique. When you have poor or rusty metal, you can't keep your heat high and have to move much faster. This is an excellent frame with new hot rolled plating.....
