I know there has to be a few truck drivers on here. I drive dump truck during summer and work on semi's in the winter. I thought it might be neat to see some of the trucks and see I have ever worked any of them or just seen them passing by. I drive a 89 pete with a 425 cat backed by a 15 speed tranny. Lets see all the trucks from day cabs, OTR trucks, dump trucks, etc.

I was an owner operator for 5 years and ran all across the us. My first truck was a Freightliner cabover. Ran it for 2 years, and traded it in on an 86 Pete extended hood 425 cat with a 15 over. Got out due to too many speeding tickets, and getting home for a weekend every 5 weeks was a bummer.









Here is a picture of my uncles 80 Pete putting about 800 hp to the ground. 2 months after having his truck repainted and alot of work done, he was sideswiped on hwy 36 in MO by a 3 X drunk driver and laid it over. What was left is now a dump truck around Springfield, MO. I learned to drive truck in this truck.

I'm still proud of this picture. I had to back into this junkyard in Kansas City off the road, around 2 trees, and through a maze to get loaded. My uncle who has 15 years experience on me wouldn't try it.

Couple of good looking pete's there. Dont see a whole lot of the cabovers any more. We still work on a few from time to time, but they are almost a thing of the past. Our shop is located on 36 hwy in Chillicothe, mo We have several tow trucks. Where about did the accident happen, if you dont mind me asking.
As far as that backing into that junk yard, my hat is off to you. I doubt I would have made that back.

I'm not really sure where it happened. Somewhere between Hannibal and Cameron. The same night I was in Ohio and rear ended a car at a stop sign leaving a truckstop. Backing up a truck is what I enjoyed, just the challenge of it. In Checotah, OK we had to back up a forklift ramp into the building. It was about a 45 degree incline with about 6 inches on each side of the truck with a drop off on each side, and you couldn't get a straight shot at it due to a building in front. I'd get anxiety attacks just thinking about unloading there. We used to haul scrap to Kankakee, IL and the place where we dumped was pretty much a big uneven mudhole. I'd eat seat cushion every time with the trailer swaying around looking like it was about to turn over. I finally told the dispatcher no more of that..

I can understand the swaying part. We haul asphalt from time to time and have to back up and dump in the machine while being pushed down the road. Kind of a weird feeling when going around a curve with a steep slope and the bed standing straight up in the air. Ive been lucky so far and only had one close call on turning the truck over. Damn mud gave out under the left wheels.

I have a thing for DM-800's, especially with 6 speeds and Quadboxes. This one used to lift the wheels in the air sometimes when I was dumping.

I've hauled dehydrated human out of Minneapolis to Florida where they use it to fertilize the orange groves. I've hauled cow skins, I've hauled brass from deset storm, I've hauled cayenne peppers from Raton, NM to New Orleans, LA. I stopped for fuel in TX, and when I came out from paying there was a Mexican family in the trailer bagging up peppers, I yelled at them and they climbed out and hopped in a pick up truck and bailed out. I remember people honking at me and flipping me off while hauling those peppers. They were starting to pack down and there was a stream of pepper juice coming out of the trailer pepper spraying anybody behind me. I got to New orleans and stopped in this busy truckstop for a nap. When I woke up there wasn't a truck for 50 feet in any direction. :-) When I got done unloading the peppers (bobcat) Some guy asked me if he could sweep the trailer out for $10 I said sure. The trailer was up about half way with this guy in there sweeping. I hit the vibrator on the trailer and out he come @$$ over teakettle.. Oh we laughed. I gave him $20 for his trouble..

love the story about the trailer. We have those vibrator on our trucks, scares the crap out of the guys on the paving machine everytime we use them. Works great to get their attention if needed though.
Fabio on that military truck of yours, are those all wheel drive all the time or can you disengage the front axle when needed?

You can engage the front axle as needed on the Deuce. It was air powered. On the older five tons they have a sprague gear that engages the front wheels if the rears slip, unless you were in 6x6 low. Then it would be full time AWD.

Bet that thing didnt turn very well in low side all those axles pushing and pulling.

Started out driving a '99 International 9900I, running dedicated out of Marcy NY. Now currently running a '09 Freightliner Columbia. Have a John Deere 450 Dozer in the trailer and it being the beginning of spring, the field being wet and no weight on the drive tires, I got stuck trying to get out of the field, So had to get a Caterpillar 416B to pull me back out to the road.

damn myles, those are some impressive loads there. How many of those trailer axles were running off remote control? I like the looks of the ole eagle you have there trick, always did like the squared off front ends.
